MY HERO Project ~ Global Exchange is only one of the areas that MY HERO ( http://myhero.com/go/ ) has to offer.  The website offers a wide variety of services to a wide variety of ages, groups and associations.  It is a free web-resource that is linking the world to make every user a part of a global community.  There are a lot of possibilities with this site.  The only drawback would be the time to explore the site and see everything it has to offer.  Definitely worth looking into!

Certainly seems to be worth looking into. I wonder what the business model looks like. It appears that they share a lot of stuff, and of course request submissions. Is this a free service, and if so, I wonder how it is funded? Looks pretty professional/commercial, so I wonder if there is a subscription involved somewhere?

I use this site for my Psychology 20 class. I have them submit a 5 paragraph essay on their hero and have them post it to the site. If you look up Chinook Cyber School you will see some entries from my students in the Southern area of the province. Since the students have to publish it and others can see it, I think they take it more seriously and they are very proud of their work. Many of my students end up choosing family members. It is a fabulous site and I would like to hook up with another classroom through the site but I am not sure how possible that is with distance learning students who are all over the map. The lesson plans on the site also make it a great tool.
To respond to Rick's comment about the subscription involved somewhere, in all the time that I have used it I have never found there to be any added strings to the site, subscription, advertising, or otherwise. Great site.
